Development and Psychometric Evaluation of an Instrument to Identify Facilitators and Barriers to Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures

Background: There has been no validated instrument to identify barriers and facilitators practicing preventive COVID-19 measures. Objectives: The present study aimed develop evaluate an Methods: was conducted in two phases from September 2020 December 2021. In the first phase, researchers interviewed 20 residents of Sanandaj city, Iran, recruited using purposive sampling method. Thematic analysis done elicit initial codes interview scripts; then, themes were generated questions. second psychometric properties test, including face validity, content construct internal consistency, investigated among 100 people online questionnaire. Afterward, face, content, validity through exploratory factor analysis. entry criterion included living exit unwillingness continue cooperation. Results: Participants nine women 11 men, with average age 28.95 years. After finishing phase study, 24 statements generated. They expanded into 31 after reviewing related literature. categorized three classes: adherence practice, barriers, facilitators. results revealed five factors for facilitators, barriers. instrument's reliability reported at 0.91, calculated Cronbach's alpha. Conclusions: developed might help investigate findings may result developing more effective strategies promote
